You say its only a paper moon Hanging over a cardboard sea But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me Say, it's only a canvas sky Sailing over a muslin tree But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me Without your love It's a honky-tonk parade Without your love It's a melody played in a penny arcade It's a Barnum and Bailey world Ablut as phony as it can be But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me You say its only a paper moon Sailing over a cardboard sea But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me You say it's only a canvas sky Hanging over a muslin tree But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me Without your love It's a honky-tonk parade Without your love It's a melody played on a penny arcade It's a Barnum and Bailey world About as phony as it can be But it wouldn't be make-believe If you believed in me

I lost my gal from Memphis, She's gone to Caroline; I know just who she went with, Some dear old pal of mine. Yeah I'd love to hop a choo-choo, Say I'd really love to go, I'd like to see my baby, But my funds are awful low. My gal, why did she leave me? Sweet gal, you know I miss you so! Oh, there ain't no gal in Memphis No, not like her around, I lost my gal from Memphis, That's why I feel lowdown.

Look for the bare necessities The simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean those bare necessities Old Mother Nature's rest at ease and bring the bare necessities of life Wherever I wander, wherever I roam I couldn't be fonder of my new home I see the bees buzzin' in the trees Tryin' to find some honey just for me You take a glance at the rocks and plants Don't forget about the fancy ants Then maybe try a few The bare necessities of life are there for you It's true! Look for the bare necessities The simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean those bare necessities The kind that lets an old bear rest at ease and bring the bare necessities of life Oh just try and relax Ya fall asleep in my backyard If you act like those bees act Don't spend your time runnin' around Lookin' for somethin' that just can't be found I think that you and I can both agree The world don't need another economics degree and i'll tell ya something true The bare necessities of life will come to you and you and you and you and you (and Moses too...) --- Well I'm the king of the jungle, kids Oh, the jungle VIP But I reached the top and I had to stop And that's what botherin' me I wanna be a man, mancub And stroll right into town I'm tired of bein' like the other apes I'm tired of monkeyin' around I said oobee doo I wanna be like you and you and you I wanna walk like you and talk like you Oh yes you know it's true Even An ape like me Well I can learn to be human too Now don't you try an kid me, mancub I made a deal with you What I desire is man's red fire To make my dream come true Yes give me the secret, mancub Won't ya tell me what to do Give me the power of man's red flower So I can be like you you! I said oobee doo I wanna be like you and you and you and you and you and you and you I wanna walk like you and talk like you Oh yes you know it's true Even An ape like me Well I can learn to be human too

If you know of a gal who can quake and shake 'Till it makes you feel like a nervous snake, You're thinkin' of... Egyptian Ella. She smokes 420 but they don't care, They like it plenty like that out there. She got the love... of every fella. And when she dance and lights her stuff down by the River Nile, The boys all take their favorite gals and throw 'em to the crocodiles! Everyone in the audience stands up and says "well that's intense!" They're talkin' 'bout... Egyptian Ella. Make you think of a girl that wakes and bakes Til you think you're a nervous snake you're thinkin' of... Egyptian Ella She smokes 420 all kinds of ways She likes them spliffs and blunts and jays She got one love Yeah she got hella She got that shake, kief, hash, wax The best shit on the Nile her bubble gum sativa got 'em talkin to the crocodiles But if we got cops in the audience We ain't got no previous drug offence You're thinking of... Egyptian Ella!

about

"Seven Up Seven Down", the SHSB's third studio release, was recorded in one day at Butcher Studios in New Orleans, LA. The intense 8-hour studio date followed the group's 2019 summer tour, and was recorded not only live but largely blind - drums, sousaphone, guitar, and horns were each isolated into four separate rooms, with no way to see one another while recording.

Stunningly, that date resulted in 16 tracks, which were planned to be released as part one and part two of a double album. However, that recording date unknowingly preceded a large hiatus - for both the SHSB and the world - instigated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, these recordings sat untouched and unused for several years.

So with no further ado, we are happy to finally release the first half of our years-old double album, "Seven Up Seven Down". We hope y'all enjoy!
